Lulu's Activity Book
About the Project
Lulu’s Rainbow Feast Activity Book is a fun and interactive activity book inspired by Lulu’s Rainbow Feast, a children’s picture book written by Linda Rigby and illustrated by me (Tanaya Lahrs). We wanted to create something new that would allow children to continue exploring Lulu’s world through creativity, play, and hands-on activities.
Designed to encourage imagination and keep little minds engaged, the activity book features a variety of fun challenges, including mazes, spot-the-difference puzzles, colouring activities, and more. With opportunities to colour on every page, children can enjoy the activities in their own way while revisiting the familiar characters and themes from Lulu’s Rainbow Feast.

My Role & Process
The process involved developing activities that would be fun and engaging for young children while remaining accessible for a range of ages and abilities. I designed the mazes, spot-the-difference puzzles, and other interactive activities from scratch, carefully considering how each page could encourage children to think, explore, and have fun.
One of the key aspects of this project was creating all the line-art illustrations. I wanted every page to offer children the opportunity to get creative, so I designed the artwork with clear outlines and plenty of space for colouring. This allowed the activity book to work as both an interactive puzzle book and a creative colouring experience, giving children the freedom to personalise the illustrations with their own colours and ideas.
Throughout the design process, I ensured the activities felt cohesive with the original Lulu’s Rainbow Feast book, maintaining its playful visual style and familiar characters while introducing new ways for children to interact with the story. Each page was thoughtfully designed to balance visual appeal, clear instructions, and engaging activities, creating an enjoyable experience from beginning to end.
The final book brings together original illustrations, custom-designed puzzles, and carefully considered page layouts to create a cohesive activity book that celebrates the world of Lulu while giving young readers something new to explore.
The Outcome
Overall, this project was a wonderful opportunity to expand on Lulu’s Rainbow Feast and create something children could enjoy beyond the original story. It was especially rewarding to design an activity book filled with original illustrations and interactive elements, giving families another fun way to bring Lulu’s world to life at home.
